Mar. 12--Sixteen years after he bought the biggest chunk of undeveloped land in Manhattan, Donald Trump's vision of a new neighborhood alongside the Hudson River has yet to materialize.
But a quiet three-building village has -- which Trump insists will one day grow to 18 buildings.
"The beauty of this job is that I can build it in smaller sections," Trump said. "If for some reason the market changes, we take the year off."
Two of the three buildings have rental apartments, while the third has condos. A fourth building under construction also will be a condominium, 52 stories high.
According to Trump, construction will begin on a fifth "in a few months." That apartment tower will stand south of the existing buildings at the complex, called Trump Place.
