Philadelphia-Based Cable Firm May Get Competitor in Tallahassee, Fla., Market.

Mar. 3--For the first time since Comcast has been in Tallahassee, another company has applied to compete with Comcast for residential cable television service in the city.

Capital Engineering and Communications of Tallahassee filed an application for a cable franchise with the city of Tallahassee last year. The company is still in the application process.

"Comcast is a big company, and (customers) feel dominated," said Kyle Smith, president of engineering for Capital Engineering. "They're looking for a hometown company to come in."
