Mar. 18--Charles Ehlinger, 56, was hoping to retire in six years from his job as a project supervisor for Expo, a division of Home Depot.
That was before his portfolio dropped 60 percent, before his Home Depot shares slid from $70 to $42, and before a key fund in his 401(k) plunged from a high of $112 a share to $45.50. Early retirement may not be possible anymore.
"I keep telling my wife we're not selling today, so let's not worry about it," said Ehlinger, of Fort Lauderdale. "But it'd be sad if it doesn't ever come back."
"I was just contemplating that if it does, I'll take my money out," he said.
