Mar. 25--SALT LAKE CITY--Employee turnover at Utah manufacturing companies rose substantially this year, according to a local survey.

The turnover rate in the manufacturing industry in the Salt Lake City area was 15.1 percent, according to the Wasatch Compensation Survey Association. That was up from 11.2 percent in 1999.

The turnover rate does not include layoffs or job cuts. It is computed based on employees who voluntarily resign or retire; …
