Mar. 31--GRAPEVINE, Texas--Dallas, Fort Worth and its divergent suburbs could practically fill a 747 with all the pitchmen peddling real estate for the new headquarters of Boeing Co.
So Friday, like a referee, Gov. Rick Perry called for a task force to winnow down the pitches from up to 90 entities in the Dallas area.
Eleven days ago, the giant aircraft maker shocked its hometown of Seattle by announcing it would move to one of the three metropolitan areas: Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver or Chicago. Dallas erupted in glee. And so did every other city within a 50-mile radius.
"I know every single community here this morning would like to be the chosen site, " Mr. Perry told a giddy crowd gathered at the administration building of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. "But it is important for us to remember if Boeing chooses Texas,
all of us will be major, major beneficiaries."
