Mar. 29--For a decade, the owners of Joe's Stone Crab have been fighting charges of sexual discrimination at the landmark Miami Beach restaurant.
Now they're back to square one.
U.S. District Judge Daniel T.K. Hurley on Friday reversed his original 1997 ruling and found that the South Beach restaurant "intentionally discriminated" against women between 1986 and 1991. During that period, Joe's hired 108 men for its coveted server positions and no women.
The penalties are no more severe than in 1997, when Hurley found the restaurant guilty of "unintentional discrimination," but the ruling is a major setback for Joe's....
