Mar. 23--Three companies that sell cards for long-distance phone service to travelers at Miami International Airport are facing an end to the no-bid deals they've enjoyed.
The three companies -- Communitel, Latin American Enterprises and WTN -- have been selling the prepaid cards since 1995 under so-called "test permits" that were supposed to last only one year.
They have been paying the county 15 percent of their gross income to operate at MIA. They paid $474,000 to the county last year.
