Apr. 5--Lucent, the once-stellar telecom giant, denied rumors sweeping Wall Street early yesterday that it was planning to file for bankruptcy -- but not before the rumblings dragged the beleaguered stock to an all-time low.
On the fifth anniversary of its spinoff from AT&T, Lucent's shares plunged as much as 30 percent to $5.50 -- below the 1996 initial public offering price.
