Mar. 30--Miami commissioners flatly rejected recommendations by a city board dominated by billboard industry representatives that would have loosened regulations for billboards around the city.
The commission took the advice of its Planning and Zoning Department in ignoring the recommendations -- then admonished the group, which didn't appear at Thursday's commission meeting.
Recommendations included increasing the allowed size of billboards from 750 to 960 square feet and permitting them within 200 feet of a highway.
