Mar. 30--Alcatel USA launched its latest advertising campaign earlier this month hoping to create a big splash. Unfortunately for the French telecommunications firm, its first ads did just that.
The ads, which depict the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. giving his celebrated "I Have a Dream" speech, drew sharp criticism from several civil rights leaders who said it commercialized and insulted his memory.
Company officials said Thursday that the King family approved the ads and that they have received generally positive feedback.
