Mar. 30--The pilots union at Delta Air Lines Inc. rejected an offer to submit their contract demands to arbitrators, a decision that started the clock ticking Thursday toward a possible strike.
The Air Line Pilots Association, which represents Delta's 10,000 pilots, will be free to call a strike as of 11:01 p.m. Dallas time April 28.
Delta operates 123 daily departures at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, augmented by 81 departures by regional carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines Inc. Delta has about 6,600 local employees, including more than 950 pilots.
