May 15--NEW YORK-AREA ENTREPRENEURS will pitch their fledgling tech companies to investors at a time when dot-com disasters and uncertainty in the stock market would seem to darken the hunt for cash.
But Venture Downtown 2001, today's sixth annual conference organized by the New York New Media Association, will match entrepreneurs with venture capitalists as surveys show that investment dollars continue to flow -- not trickle -- into new companies.
