Apr. 26--When Larry Braslow opened the Health Market in Lakewood in 1975, few people bought health foods.
Trade publications at the time estimated that only 1 percent of the U.S. population bought such foods, he said.
"Now there are a lot more people with a lot more ailments," Braslow said, and an estimated 25 percent of the population buys some kind of natural health product.
Braslow, who runs the store at Kennedy Boulevard and Clifton Avenue with his wife, Chris, has annual sales that total five times what they were in 1975.
