Apr. 24--Wal-Mart announced plans Monday to open a Supercenter at the Mall at 163rd St., breathing new life into a shopping center that has struggled since it lost its department store anchors.
The Arkansas retail chain will build a 222,114-square-foot store, including a full-scale grocery, on the mall's eastern end by demolishing what was once the home of Mervyn's and previously Jordan Marsh.
