Apr. 24--TALLAHASSEE, Fla.--Homeowners would receive $55 checks for every tree cut down by the Citrus Canker Eradication Program under legislation that reached the floor of the House of Representatives on Monday after receiving unanimous approval from the Council for Competitive Commerce.
But whether the first check ever really materializes will hinge on the outcome of the House-Senate budget impasse and a new funding maneuver now being proposed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
