Apr. 24--An army of 500 workers is drilling, sawing, hammering and painting in a "race to the finish" to open a sprawling new fourth passenger terminal at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport this weekend.
For travelers, the new terminal will mean more breathing room -- the terminal is the size of eight football fields -- and less risk of being hit by cars. Instead of dashing across traffic lanes separating the parking garage from terminals, travelers can ride a moving sidewalk
sandwiched between the arrival and departure levels.
