Apr. 23--GROWING FIRM WANTS TO HIRE MORE ATTORNEYS: Don't tell Shutts & Bowen a recession is looming. The firm has added 21 new lawyers since September. Marshall Emas, the attorney whose developer clients have dozens of shopping centers and office towers to their credit, has just settled into new space in the Fort Lauderdale office of Shutts & Bowen. Emas brought two other real estate lawyers with him from the small firm of English, McCaughan & O'Bryan. His addition gives Shutts more ground in Fort Lauderdale, where it opened an office only three years ago and now has 15 attorneys.
"We're still missing some things we need in Fort Lauderdale," said George Platt, who left Eckert Seamans to start a Broward office for Shutts in 1998. "We're looking for an employment lawyer to work with our group in Miami and we're looking for the right corporate partner. There are a lot of opportunities here for lawyers like Marshall Emas who bring a lot to the table."
