Apr. 26--TALLAHASSEE, Fla.--A Broward County lawmaker is waging a battle to derail a controversial attempt by the Enron Corp. to build electricity generating plants near residential neighborhoods in North Broward and elsewhere in Florida.
Rep. Ron Greenstein, D-Coconut Creek, said he wants to close a loophole in the Florida Electrical Power Plant Siting Act of 1973 that exempts less-powerful, single-cycle plants from site regulation by the Public Service Commission.
