Apr. 26--The chain-saw destruction of citrus trees that enraged many South Floridians resumed Wednesday for the first time since January after state officials discovered what they called a massive proliferation of newly infected trees.
Contractor crews fired up their chainsaws to resume cutting citrus trees in North Lauderdale Wednesday.
Cutting crews returned to Tamarac, Margate and North Lauderdale, said Mark Fagan, a spokesman for the state's canker eradication program.
He said the crews will work their way south through Broward County. If state lawyers can reverse a court order requiring search warrants, the crews will return to Miami-Dade County, too.
