Apr. 27--The top-ranked company trying to get the largest remaining contract in the airport's massive expansion program pleaded guilty to a federal crime in December, clouding its prospects of winning the $609 million terminal construction job.
The two other companies seeking the huge contract are trying to convince county officials that the legal troubles of AMEC Construction Management in building a St. Louis federal courthouse should tarnish its chances for winning the Miami International Airport job.
County Manager Steve Shiver is expected to decide any day which of the three bidders to recommend for the contract, which calls for extending the far end of MIA's horseshoe-shaped terminal and constructing a new concourse, which would...
