May 9--Time may be running out for the Alpha Center.
Charlotte County School Board members decided to postpone a vote Tuesday as to whether they should terminate their contract with the troubled charter school.
Board members claim the Alpha Center's board of directors paid a hefty salary to a top official while failing to pay a mortgage, federal payroll taxes and retirement contributions for all employees.
"If I had to make a recommendation tonight," said School Superintendent Max Schmidt, "I would recommend to terminate the contract."
