May 8--Harvey Pitt, a Brooklyn-born lawyer who defended Ivan Boesky during the insider-trading trials of the 1980s, is about to be named the security industry's top cop, Washington sources told the Daily News.
President Bush is likely to nominate Pitt to be the next chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, the federal agency that regulates the stock market, the sources said.
