May 8--New York would lose a "major independent broadcast voice" if News Corp. is allowed to buy a second local TV station and continue operating the New York Post.

That was the argument made to the Federal Communications Commission yesterday by groups challenging News Corp.'s purchase of Chris-Craft Industries, which includes WWOR-TV/Ch. 9. It was seen as the organizations' last chance to voice objections to the transaction before the FCC begins its deliberations.
