May 10--The magazine industry generated gloomier numbers last month, demonstrating that the slump in ad pages deepened for many prominent titles.

Pages for all magazines were off 9.5 percent from April 2000, and followed an 8.1 percent drop in March. For January through April, total ad pages declined 7.5 percent , according to new figures released yesterday by the Publishers Information Bureau.
