May 31--A handful of hotels and reservation companies recently started offering gas rebates to take the sting out of tanking up. But word on the street is that refunds will remain few and far between: neither pricey fuel nor economic woes are expected to stop Americans from hitting the road this summer.
"People realize they may have to pay more, but they won't give up their vacation," said Cathy Keefe, spokeswoman for the Travel Industry Association of America. "We're seeing people modifying their trips, and gas prices are definitely a concern, but we haven't seen them canceling."
