May 31--BellSouth will file a petition with the Florida Public Service Commission today, asking for permission to sell long-distance service in this state.
The Atlanta-based company, which provides local phone service in Florida and eight other Southeastern states, will also file for long-distance permission in Georgia. It has submitted similar petitions in the other states it operates, except Tennessee, within the past month.
