May 30--The U.S. Coast Guard is considering sanctions against Norwegian Cruise Line over the company's failure to inform safety inspectors about the broken sprinkler system that prompted Tuesday's cancellation of a seven-day cruise by the Norway.
NCL, failing to fix a faulty sprinkler system on the Norway, sent 2,032 passengers home or to other places to salvage their vacations. After more than 24 hours of waiting aboard ship at the Port of Miami-Dade, where free drinks and other amenities helped while away the hours, the passengers were informed at about 11 p.m. Monday that the cruise line could not repair the problems in time to sail.
