May 30--CUBAN, WAGNER WANT TO BE IN THE MOVIE BIZ: The co-founders of Dallas' highest profile Internet success story, Broadcast.com, are teaming up for an encore performance.
Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban are launching a movie production business. Mr. Wagner, who will run the company, cautioned that the project remains embryonic. But he said a potential opening for the entrepreneurs could come if Hollywood begins to distribute its films digitally some time over the next decade.
The shift in how films are distributed will inevitably shake up the industry, though Mr. Wagner doesn't pretend to know exactly where the "soft underbelly" of opportunity will be.
"Eventually, Hollywood won't be able to do things the same old way," Mr. Wagner said last week over an extended lunch during which he talked about his life after Broadcast. com.
