May 30--Even though the company is undergoing a restructuring and posting declining sales, J.C. Penney Co.'s catalog can still win a popularity contest.
Penney's catalog ranks No. 1 with shoppers, according to results of a consumer survey released Tuesday by Catalog Age, a monthly trade publication that covers the mail-order business.
More than one-fourth of those surveyed, or 26.9 percent, said they purchased from a J.C. Penney catalog last year. That's more than twice as many respondents as the 13 percent who said they shopped from the second-most popular catalog in the country, Lands' End.
