May 28--RETIRING NO LONGER MEANS NOT WORKING: If you think retirement is the end of the road for you, many of your peers disagree.
"Pre-retirees and younger retirees view retirement as more of a lifestyle transition than a termination of employment," according to Beyond 50: A Report to the Nation on Economic Security by the AARP, formerly known as the American Association of Retired Persons, an advocacy group for people 50 and older.
Reaching 50 also isn't such a big deal anymore.
"Reaching age 50, or the Big Five-Oh, is not what it once was," the comprehensive report said. "While 50 was once considered old or perhaps middle-aged, today's 50-plus-ers are an increasingly healthy, active and affluent segment of American society, with long lives still ahead of them."
