May 25--Get your earplugs ready. The thunderous noise that accompanies cars racing through downtown Miami could be back as soon as next year.
Miami commissioners on Thursday unanimously instructed the city manager and the Bayfront Park Management Trust to enter negotiations with Panoz Motorsports Group of Georgia to bring American Le Mans Series racing to the edge of Biscayne Bay.
The Le Mans Series is one of the premier venues for sports car racing in the United States. Prototypes from Audi, Porsche and BMW compete, as do production-based sports cars like Corvettes.
