May 25--The political dogfight over the future of the Homestead Air Base continued Thursday as the Miami-Dade Commission shot down a proposal to end the county's legal efforts to overturn a federal decision that killed plans to redevelop the base into a commercial airport.

"I'd like to call this resolution the 'Let's Stop Beating a Dead Horse and Biting the Hand that Feeds You Act,'" said proposal sponsor Commissioner Katy Sorenson, whose South Dade district extends into Homestead.
