May 25--THREE DALLAS-area companies have made it on this year's list of the country's biggest residential builders.
With more than 21,000 home closings last year, Centex Corp., based in downtown Dallas, was fourth nationally behind Pulte Corp. , KB Home and Lennar Corp.
Arlington-based D.R. Horton Inc. placed fifth, with 18,942 home sales, and apartment builder JPI Cos. of Irving was sixth, finishing 13,000 units last year.
Ranked by housing revenue instead of production, Centex was third nationally, with $4.1 billion in sales; D.R. Horton was fifth, with $3.6 billion; and JPI was 14th, with $1.3 billion. Lennar ($4.9 billion) was first in revenue, and Pulte ($4.3 billion) was second.
