May 25--James M. "Jim" Moroney, a longtime television and Internet executive for Dallas-based Belo, will become chief executive and publisher of The Dallas Morning News next month.
Mr. Moroney succeeds Burl Osborne and will begin his new role on June 18, Belo said Thursday. The media company also promoted Robert W. Mong Jr. to president and editor of The News, a title last held by Mr. Osborne before he became publisher.
"The team of Jim Moroney and Bob Mong is Belo's strongest commitment yet to realizing the opportunities afforded by convergence of the company's various media businesses," said Robert W. Decherd, Belo's chairman, president and chief executive officer.
The two men expect to share some duties. Mr. Moroney, 44, plans to focus on sales, marketing, finance, accounting and systems, while Mr. Mong, 52, will concentrate on the news, circulation and production departments.
