May 24--Negotiators say they are close to finalizing a new deal to get the long-delayed $81 million Broward County Convention Center Hotel built by Halloween 2003.
After months of often explosive discussions, millionaire African-American developer R. Donahue Peebles and the Broward County Commission agreed on a framework for the deal March 27.
In subsequent meetings, they've hashed out details that could be approved next month.
