May 24--While many of the nation's hospitals will pay more for blood collected by the American Red Cross, which plans to raise its prices by July to help pay off debts, South Florida hospitals will not feel the pinch.

Most hospitals in Broward and Miami-Dade purchase their blood through local entities not affiliated with the Red Cross.
