Jul. 6--Ventura County became a bit more affordable in May over the previous month, a state real estate group reported Thursday.
About 36 percent of the households in Ventura County had the income necessary to purchase a median-priced home, up from 35 percent the prior month and a jump from 32 percent recorded in May 2000, the California Association of Realtors reported.
The median price of an existing home in the county -- half the homes sold for more and half sold for less -- was $293,400, down 2.4 percent from April but up 1.6 percent from a year ago, the association reported.
