Yuba County ranks fifth highest in state on per capita spending by Washington.

Feb. 15--Yuba County, thanks mainly to Beale Air Force Base, has one of the highest levels of per capita federal spending in California, according to a study released Monday.

In fiscal 2003, the federal government spent nearly $8,800 per person in Yuba County, about $2,700 more than the statewide average and about $1,800 more than the national average, the California Institute for Federal Policy Research reported.

Yuba County ranked fifth among the state's 58 counties. Modoc, Inyo, San Francisco and Sacramento counties ranked higher in per person federal …
