Exel is finding healthy logistics growth in supplying the burgeoning pharmaceutical industry.
The United Kingdom-based logistics giant capped a purchase-filled 2004 with another buy at the end of the year, acquired Portuguese pharmaceutical logistics provider Sode Distribuicao e Logistica.
Although a relatively small purchase, it adds to business Exel built up last year with buys that included the mega-buy of contract logistics company Tibbett & Britten. Exel officials have suggested they will try to integrate the purchases this year but the late-December acquisition in Portugal shows the company is hardly shy about pulling out its checkbook.
