Feb. 14--BRADENTON -- Don Keller walks six miles a day on the job.

He is area production manager at one of Beall's Inc.'s two colossal distribution centers.

Merchandise destined for 524 Beall's stores in 13 states must first pass through the south Manatee County warehouses, measuring 400,000 square feet and 700,000 square feet each.

How big are they?

About as big as six connected Wal-Mart stores. The big ones.

Inside, a sea of cartons stretches forever.

Walking seems old fashioned in an environment where high tech has replaced more pedestrian methods of doing business.

But Keller's not complaining.
