Feb. 11--Mack Trucks on Thursday reported its strongest number of deliveries since early 2001.

The Allentown, Pa., company said it delivered 25,469 trucks in 2004, 34.1 percent more than the year before.

Mack had a strong finish for the year. In December, its deliveries reached 2,668, a 43 percent increase over the same month in 2003 and the highest monthly total in years.

Leif Johansson, president of Mack's parent, Volvo AB of Sweden, expects demand to be even stronger this year. The heavy duty truck market will grow 15 to 20 percent in North America in …
