Feb. 4--Rupert Murdoch may one day succeed in cutting all strings attached to his ownership of the New York Post and two local TV stations. Meanwhile, he continues to run up legal bills.

In the latest twist, Murdoch's News Corp. has joined other media giants, including Tribune Co., in asking the Supreme Court to review an appeals court ruling that slowed their ability to grow.

Last June, the lower court stopped the Federal Communications Commission from raising the cap on how many TV stations a company can own in most markets. The FCC also would have ended the ban …
