Feb. 1--Weld County's newest manufacturing plant will offer some of the highest wages among manufacturing jobs in the county, a sign that some say may eventually force other area companies to raise wages to compete.

Owens-Illinois, a glass bottle manufacturer, is under construction in east Windsor, and plant officials are looking for about 30 electro-mechanical technicians and about 30 manufacturing/forming machine operators, both upper-level jobs that pay in the range of $47,000 to $55,000. The company's lowest rung, or entry-level jobs, will start employees at $27,000 a year. …
