LEXINGTON, Ky. _ Alejandro Miranda, one of dozens of freelance galopadores, was making about $160 a day exercising horses when one abruptly fell on him, breaking his right hand and cracking bones in his arm and shoulder.
Because his accident happened at a California racetrack, Miranda was completely covered by workers' compensation insurance, in this case by the horse's owner.
"It was easy," said Miranda, 37, who was interviewed in Spanish. "The owner and trainer agreed on everything. I Everything was good. There wasn't any problem."
