Jan. 29--California has one of the best college scholarship programs in the nation for financially needy high school graduates who want to go to college, but many students who are eligible don't apply or apply too late.

That is why dozens of Cal Grant workshops are being sponsored across the state in February -- to give students and their parents hands-on help in understanding the requirements to get a Cal Grant and filling out the appropriate forms.
