Jan. 31--BYRON, Ga. -- Bill Bonbrake has loved old things for nearly as long as he can remember, old cars in particular.
He has turned his love of cars into a successful classic car auction business -- Performance Auctions -- and a dealership -- The Generation Gap. He credits his daughter, Traci Geib, with encouraging him to modernize his businesses.
When Traci came to work full-time for her father eight years ago, she advised him to make some changes, Bonbrake said.
"She said, 'Dad, I think we need a fax machine and I think we need a computer,' " Bonbrake recalled.
Even their offices are a study in contrasts. His office is full of old things -- an antique hope chest and an old safe. His desk is a former bank deposit table. He also has an old roll-top desk. But no computer. His office is actually an old city of Knoxville rail trolley that he bought at an auction.
