Stockard Channing, television's most popular First Lady, was charged on Monday with two misdemeanor counts of driving while under the influence of alcohol. The "West Wing" co-star is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on Feb. 9.
The charges reportedly stemmed from a Dec. 14 incident on the Hollywood Freeway. A California Highway Patrol spokesman tells the AP that northbound lanes of traffic were shut down that evening to facilitate the removal of a disabled tractor-trailer when officers allegedly saw Channing's 2003 black Porsche Boxter passing traffic on the right shoulder.
