Jan. 26--The nonprofit organization running two of Easton's neighborhood enhancement programs chose a one-time Republican council candidate and West Ward resident over nearly 70 other applicants to run the state-sponsored Elm Street program.

Gary D. Bertsch, 56, of Butler Street, was introduced as the Elm Street manager during City Council's workshop Tuesday night.

"This is a great opportunity for me to show what value I can bring to the city," Bertsch said. "I can't wait to get started."
