Jan. 22--ANAHEIM -- The biggest trade show in California squeezed into the Anaheim Convention Center this week, using closets, storage space and every square inch it could find to set up exhibits for an anticipated crowd of 80,000 at the International Music Products Association show.
The group, which calls itself NAMM, is the only convention that clamors for more exhibit space in Anaheim, which has the largest convention venue on the West Coast.
But lots of other groups have complained that Anaheim lacks sufficient meeting space -- the smaller rooms used for seminars and training -- and that has forced convention officials to consider an innovative expansion plan.
Board members of the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau will discuss a proposal next week that calls for private funding to support expansion of the publicly owned building.
