Jan. 22--The U.S. Coast Guard is going to take every navigation buoy out of New River Inlet and three others in North Carolina where the water is considered too shallow.

The Coast Guard made the announcement Friday and plans to begin removing the buoys on Monday. The navigation aids will also come out of Lockwood's Folly, New Topsail and Carolina Beach inlets. Bogue Inlet in Carteret County will not be affected due to Emerald Isle's channel relocation project.
